Focus on waiting. Be strong when hunger hits and deny yourself instant gratification. Set a window of 10 to 30 minutes that you will wait before eating. Chances are good if your cravings are only stress-related, they'll disappear when you allow yourself to become distracted.

Keep a food journal of what you eat each day. When you go to snack or eat something, you may be stopped simply by the thought that you will have to put it in your journal.

Enlist a friend's help - ideally one who also is tempted by stress-related cravings. When you feel like eating, write him/her a quick note or make a phone call.

Keep your body hydrated and nourished. Eat regular, healthy snacks to maintain your energy level. Skipping meals while under stress only prompts you to eat more, and unhealthily, when you do get around to eating.

If you find yourself repeatedly having stress related cravings in certain places, write yourself a note and leave it there as a reminder. Write yourself any messages that will best deter you from eating. Some good pointers may be "Are you actually hungry right now?" and "Think twice about what you are about to eat!"

Rid your work and home of food that may tempt you. Never go shopping while hungry and always make a list of food items prior to shopping; bring home only what you feel good about eating.

Dedicate some time every day to yourself. It could be an exciting activity that will refresh you, or a simple 15 minutes of quiet reflection, it is crucial that you take this time for yourself. Health is not just physical, mental well-being is just as important, you deserve to mentally de-stress everyday!
